I'd like to offer my apologies to all of you who have given my blog an award and have not heard back from me. I've had at least 4 or 5 in the recent months that I put on the back burner thinking that I would get around to accepting them sooner or later. They kind of snowballed on me. So again, my apologies. I didn't mean to ignore anyone. I'm just super super busy. I don't know when or how I can get around to answering all of them. So if it's ok with you, I'd like to start with a clean slate and will try to answer any future ones.
Thanks again for thinking of me!
Awards do help promote unknown blogs so there is some benefit. But I think any real award should never come with obligations to the receiver, if it does it is not an award it is a marketing scheme. The awards with obligations to spread it are nothing more than an electronic version of the old chain letter.
ReplyDeleteFor myself I am simply indifferent to them as I know these awards are pretty much meaningless because of how they are given. After a short while they are simply spread to anyone one can find that one think's might not have received that particular award rather than it being based on merit. Who has time to surf everyone's blog to see if they have already received an award?
For a busy blogger awards with too many to do things on the list can be very time consuming.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for starting afresh if you have a bunch like that.
I'm kind of in the thinking that they are like the old email chain letters, too, Karin. But it is nice to honor those blogs and art that you admire. And I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by simply ignoring the awards. I'd like to find some kind of balance. But am not quite sure how to go about it. One thought is to once a week or so feature blogs and artists I admire. I would also decline those awards with obligations and thank those who offer them to me in writing. I feel most people really do offer awards to those they admire. But the obligation thing is a real hassle for me. I work at least 10 hours a day felting and one to two hours doing internet business stuff. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Robin
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your feelings!
